JACKSONVILLE — The Jacksonville State volleyball team will start its season as a middle-of-the-pack pick as the Gamecocks were tabbed to finish sixth in the Ohio Valley Conference preseason poll announced on Tuesday.

It is the same position they were picked last year when they went 6-12 in league play.

The Gamecocks received 85 points in the voting, 30 points behind fifth-place Tennessee Tech but well ahead of No. 7 UT-Martin.

Murray State was picked to win the league, followed by Morehead State, Southeast Missouri and Austin Peay.

Senior outside hitter Brittney Whitten was named to the preseason All-OVC first team, while junior Caitlin Vorbeck was a second-team pick.
