A college football fan's guide to this weekend's action in Atlanta

Two state college teams open their football season in Atlanta on Saturday, as Jacksonville State pays a visit to Georgia Tech and Alabama meets Virginia Tech at the Georgia Dome.

If you're going over for either game, or both, expect downtown to be packed. In addition to the games, Atlanta's also hosting Dragon Con, attracting thousands of costumed sci-fi and fantasy fans. (No, that squad of Imperial Stormtroopers isn't there for extra security.)

JSU at Georgia Tech

Venue: Bobby Dodd Stadium-Grant Field

Kickoff: 1 p.m. (EDT)

Exit: 249D on I-75/85, straight on Linden Avenue, left on W. Peachtree St., left on North Avenue, stadium on right.

MARTA: North Avenue Station.

What's nearby: The Varsity (famous restaurant, short walk east of stadium on North Avenue), Engine 11 Firehouse Tavern (drinks and food, four blocks east of stadium on North Avenue)

Alabama vs. Virginia Tech

Venue: Georgia Dome

Kickoff: 8 p.m. (EDT)

Exit: 56B on I-20, left on Spring Street, left on MLK Jr. Drive, Right on Northside Drive, stadium on right.

Parking: $8-10.

MARTA: Dome-GWCC-Phillips Arena-CNN Station

What's nearby: The CNN Center food court is loaded with fast food, sandwich shops and six other restaurants and bars. A short walk east of the stadium on International Street.
