We used to give out an award in Ohatchee called the Good Neighbor Award. This award was presented to the recipient at a City Council meeting for some special act or acts that benefited the town in some way.

On one occasion, we presented this award to state Rep. Lea Fite. It read as follows:

"The Good Neighbor Award is awarded to Lea Fite/Food Outlet for outstanding community support. Mr. Lea Fite and Mr. Mike Sanders and their company have, time and time again, proven themselves to be strong community supporters of Ohatchee. Many times over the past several years Mr. Fite has been asked to donate food items and financial support for various events in Ohatchee. The Janney Furnace 5K runs, The OhatcheeFest, several Christmas programs, cookouts for senior Citizens and 'Safe Halloween' are some of the events Mr. Fite has supported.

"His generosity has been overwhelming and unmatched by others. His support has truly made most of the events mentioned great successes. Mr. Fite, along with his partner and their company, qualifies and is recognized as a good neighbor to the town of Ohatchee. Thanks and congratulations!

"Town of Ohatchee — April 16, 2004."

Lea Fite continued to support Ohatchee in many different ways. His help will always be appreciated.
