Nov. 20, 1934, in The Star: Dr. and Mrs. W. G. Henry have arrived from Birmingham for Dr. Henry's assumption of duties as new pastor of First Methodist Church. They are now at home at the parsonage at 1201 Christine Avenue. A reception will be held for the couple tomorrow evening. Also this date: In a weekly meeting report from Boy Scout Troop 9, scribe James Broughton tells us that one of the activities enjoyed recently was blind boxing. "The boxers would go swinging around in the air about two yards apart. At one time, when Donald Shuffield was boxing George Johnson, Donald was slinging at George. George fell and Donald went in and hit the wall."

Nov. 20, 1984, in The Star: Gershon Weinberg, owner of the Original Golden Rule Bar-B-Que on South Quintard, will open his restaurant on Thanksgiving day to prepare barbeque-style dinners for 100 needy people who have already obtained tickets from the Department of Pensions and Security office. Also this date: At tonight's city council meeting Anniston architect Julian Jenkins is expected to unveil a tentative design for the Anniston High School Centennial Park. This is the first step in fund-raising for the project. Major elements in the park are to include stone arches from the old high school, a pre-1932 trolley car (that's the year the cars quit running) and a fountain.
