Most days I read Star Commentary Editor Phillip Tutor’s column and either agree or shake my head and move on. Today, Tutor should have taken his own advice and left this subject alone.
He seems to think Florida quarterback Tim Tebow should keep his mouth shut when it comes to controversial issues like abortion, because “NFL teams don’t like controversy.” Who cares what NFL teams like or don’t like?
Tebow has taken a stand for his belief in the sanctity of life. If more professional athletes, actors and other celebrities were to follow his lead, our teenagers would have much better role models. I suppose it would be acceptable if he were in the news for being arrested for drunk driving, steroid use, illegal drugs or cheating on his girlfriend, but how dare he stand up for the rights of unborn babies.
Tebow’s stock will continue to rise and he will do well whether he plays football on Sundays or not. I hope Tebow’s anti-abortion ad is repeated over and over after the Super Bowl. And if your children ask you to explain abortion, I hope you tell them it is legalized murder.
