Mr. and Mrs. Dave Herring of Talladega announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Caroline Herring, to Charles Tyler Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Smith of Louisville, Ky.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Gaines of Talladega and Mr. and Mrs. Elbrey Herring of Birmingham.

She is a graduate of Centre College, Danville, Ky., and is employed by Hall County Board of Education in Gainesville, Ga.

The prospective groom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Baringer, formerly of Louisville, Ky., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Harold Smith, formerly of Mount Washington, Ky.

He is a graduate of Centre College, Danville, Ky., and is employed by Newton County Board of Education in Covington, Ga.

The wedding will be 6 p.m. June 5, 2010, at Meadowlake Farm, home of the bride, in Talladega.
