Calhoun County Sheriff’s deputies are searching for two men who ran from a traffic stop this afternoon, men who are possibly armed with a handgun.

Chief Deputy Matthew Wade said deputies are searching for Montrel Burton and Antonio Swink. Swink reportedly is armed with a handgun. The men are being sought in the area of Blue Ridge Drive near Stringfellow Memorial Hospital.

Burton is described as a black male wearing tan shorts and a white shirt, while Swink is described as a black male wearing a white basketball jersey.

Wade said the chase began around 1:30 p.m. after a deputy attempted a traffic stop of a vehicle carrying three black males. The stop turned into a foot chase, followed soon after by the arrest of Burton’s twin brother, Montrece, in a house on Blue Ridge Drive. Montrece had been a passenger in the vehicle.

Further details about why the chase was initiated were not immediately available.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the two suspects is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 256-238-1414.
