The 16-year-old told police he was playing video games at about midnight in his home on the 2900 block of Moore Avenue when two masked males, believed to be teen boys, entered through the unlocked front door. The alleged intruders were armed with handguns, police said.
The suspects allegedly ordered the victim and his acquaintances, another 16-year-old boy and an 18-year-old woman, onto the floor. The victim, thinking the suspects were friends playing a prank on him, stood up to confront the alleged intruders, police said. That’s when one of the suspects allegedly shot him once in the left thigh, sending a bullet straight through it, according to police reports.
The suspects then allegedly ordered the victim to fill a bag, though police did not know what with. They also took the victim’s Playstation 3 video game console and TV before leaving.
Anniston Emergency Medical Services took the victim to Stringfellow Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for the gunshot wound.
Police had not confirmed the suspects’ identities this morning.
