Coach Alex Wilson means a lot to Anniston High School’s kids. For a principal and superintendent to take such a bond away from the kids at Anniston High is a disgrace.

Saying Wilson was non-tenured is just an excuse. They cannot explain the reason for him being fired at a time when our kids really need him.

As Principal Sherron Jinadu stated in an e-mail to me: “Mrs. Turner, a coach is considered a teacher first. We do not give reasons for non-tenured employees. I am not going to divulge his information. I appreciate your concern and appreciate all you have done and will do.” She’s right about that, but he is more than a coach and a teacher to more than most of those kids.

He is a role model, father figure, concerned parent and much more. I can go on and on about Coach Wilson, but the work he has done should speak for him. Come on, administrators, we have to do better. Or maybe we should get rid of the administrators and superintendent for making such a disgraceful decision. They are not thinking about our children.
