According to Anniston police Sgt. Fred Forsythe, 36-year-old Charla Joan Colvin punched one of the officers in the jaw and kicked another in the kneecap as they tried to handcuff her during an arrest on public drunkenness, reckless endangerment and criminal trespass charges.
Forsythe said Colvin was trespassing at a house on South Wilmer Avenue around noon on Sunday, when police were called to the scene.
When officers arrived, they found Colvin had allegedly pushed one of the house owners through a glass window, Forsythe said. He said Colvin was obviously intoxicated and trying to resist arrest when she assaulted the two officers.
In addition to the misdemeanor charges, Colvin has now also been charged with two felony second-degree assault charges and a resisting arrest misdemeanor, records show.
Forsythe said Colvin was in the Anniston City Jail Monday. Bond was set at $15,000.
