An Anniston woman was hospitalized today after a wreck on U.S. 431 caused her car to flip onto its roof.

Alabama State Troopers spokesman Chad Joiner said Anthony Scott Brown of Ohatchee was driving south on the highway at 2:35 p.m., when he attempted to turn his 1996 Toyota 4-Runner left onto Lenlock Lane. As he did so, his car struck the 2001 GMC Jimmy being driven by Linda Medlock Williams. The crash flipped the Jimmy onto its roof.

Joiner said an Anniston EMS crew took Williams to Regional Medical Center. She was the only person hurt, he said.

Doug King, a neighbor of Williams, said he recognized her car as drove past the scene. King didn’t see the accident, but said he pulled over and saw that Williams was speaking before she was taken by ambulance to RMC.

Anniston firefighters at the scene Friday said they did not think Williams’ injuries were serious.

Anniston police responded first to the scene and helped direct traffic around the pieces of metal and glass that were scattered on the northbound lanes of U.S. 431, where the accident occurred.
