A 24-year-old Anniston man has several bruises on his face and knees after he was attacked during a Monday night assault at Norwood Homes, police said.

Between 6:30 p.m. and 6:50 p.m. Monday, officers responded to Norwood Homes, a public housing complex located in the 400 block of West 29th Street, after they received a call about a large crowd causing a disturbance, Sgt. Fred Forsythe said.

When officers arrived, the victim was receiving treatment from Anniston EMS personnel who had already arrived on scene.

An ambulance transported the victim to Regional Medical Center, where police tried to interview him about what happened, Forsythe said.

The victim was uncooperative, saying he didn’t remember anything, because he had been drinking and smoking crack within the last hour, Forysthe said.

After speaking with witnesses, Forsythe said investigators were able to build a few leads on potential suspects that police believe may have punched and kicked the victim.

Officers would not release the names of the suspects or victim, because the case is still under investigation and no arrest warrants have been signed.
