The Calhoun County Homemakers and Community Leaders (CCHCL) hosted its Sewing for Cancer event April 12 at the Ken Joiner Administration Building Auditorium. The theme was a parade of Easter bonnets with prizes awarded to the first, second and third places for the most unique and funny hats. The judges were Laura Phillips, Commissioner Eli Henderson, Kitty Moore, Veterans Services officer.

Pictured is Carol Headrick, second place; Commissioner Eli Henderson; Shelia Gaddy, first-place; Laura Phillips, judge; and Fleeta Todd, third-place winner.

The Cancer Workshop has been in existence for 20 plus years; the volunteers use their sewing skills to benefit other people while making a difference in the community. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, call 256-820-0096 for more information.
