JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Griff Gordon extended his hitting streak to 10 games and drove in a career-high three runs as Jacksonville State bat North Florida 5-2 today.

It marked the final day of a three-game weekend series for the Gamecocks (5-8), who won two of three on the trip.

Winning pitcher Taylor Shields (2-1) scattered seven hits and added a strikeout in 5 1/3 innings of work. Travis Stout picked up his fourth save of the year with a pair of strikeouts after recording the final four outs of the game.

Jacksonville State (5-8) took the early lead after Michael Bishop led the game off with a single and moved into scoring position on Eddie Mora-Loera's sacrifice bunt. Gordon followed with a single up the middle to give JSU a 1-0 lead.

The Gamecocks then scored four runs in the second inning. Stephen Bartlett led off with a double and moved to third after Andrew Bishop grounded out to short. Tyler Gamble singled through the right side to score Bartlett and give JSU a 3-0 lead.

Mora-Loera reached on a two-out UNF error and Michael Bishop loaded the bases after being hit by a pitch. Gordon then followed with a single up the middle to score two more runs as the Gamecocks built a 5-0 lead.

North Florida (8-3) got on the board in the eighth inning after Drew Weeks scored an unearned run, and Ryan Roberson scored on a sacrifice fly for the final margin.

JSU returns to action Tuesday at home against Alabama State at 6:30 p.m. On Wednesday, the two teams will play in Montgomery.
